Stallions lose at home to the Outlaws after five lead changes
Saugerties, N.Y. - The Oneonta Outlaws took a road game 8-6 over the Saugerties Stallions on the first day of summer. Alex Voss gets the loss for Saugerties while the Outlaws Rick Burroni gets a win for a two inning relief appearance. Bowen Plagge silenced the Stallions for good in the 9th and gets the save.
The game began with the Outlaws taking a 2-0 lead after the top of the third inning. Saugerties would begin their day offensively in the bottom of the third by getting their first hit and taking the lead. After Noah Sanford batted in a run on a single and scored on a throwing error, the Stallions were tied at two. Fritz Genther would give Saugerties the 3-2 lead on an RBI double that scored Tyler Kelder from second base.
This lead was short lived, as Niko Amory scored from third on a wild pitch in the very next inning to tie the game at 3-3. After four complete innings of play, the game was knotted at 4-4.
It wasn't until Noah Ledford's solo home run in the 5th inning that the Stallions would see the lead again. Ledford's second home run of the season soared over the right-center field wall as the only home run of the evening.
Saugerties would hold this lead until the top of the 8th inning when a walk and two singles would load up the bases for the Outlaws. Noah Cabrera walked to score Mike Casselegio, making it a 5-5 ball game.
The Outlaws would take their final lead on a pinch-hitting Cavan Tully two out RBI single to take a 7-5 lead. Kyle Ofier and Ben Bianco both had RBI hits for their respective teams in the final two innings, but it would be the Outlaws that would maintain the lead and get the victory.
The 7-9 Saugerties Stallions are looking to get back on track tomorrow in Glens Falls. The 6-10 Outlaws are back home for the Utica Blue Sox tomorrow.
