SAUGERTIES, N.Y. - The Saugerties Stallions started their title defense on the wrong note Friday night as they fell 13-10 against the Albany Dutchmen.

Saugerties jumped out to a quick 2-0 lead in the second inning with a passed ball followed by an RBI single from TJ Adams.

The Dutchmen didn't wait much longer to get on the board however as they scored four runs off reliever Bryce Reimer to take a 4-2 lead.

During the very next inning, Stallions hitters walked a combined three times and were able to turn that into two more runs which tied the game up at four.

Things grew out of proportion in the seventh inning for the Stallions as the Dutchmen were able to bat around the lineup and eight runners crossed the plate to make it a 12-4 ballgame.

Both teams were able to tack on one more run before the bottom of the ninth inning where the Stallions made one final push at victory.

Down by seven runs, the Stallions created some momentum with two singles and four walks to get in a position where the winning run was at the plate.

However, with the bases loaded and one out in the ninth the Dutchmen would survive as Colin Mackle grounded into a double play to end the game.

The Stallions will travel to Amsterdam to take on the Mohawks with first pitch scheduled for 6:35 p.m.
