Saugerties, NY - On Tuesday, June 26 the Saugerties Stallions beat the Glens Falls Dragons at Cantine Field with a final score of 8-4.
The Stallions bats started strong in the first inning. Second-year Stallion Tyler Kelder (St. Bonaventure) hit an RBI-double scoring Jordan Kozicky (Minnesota) to open the scoring. Easton Bertrand (Minnesota) hit into a fielder's choice, scoring Cameron Comer (Virginia).
Later in the half inning, Cam Coakley (Stetson) drew an RBI walk, scoring Kelder to give Saugerties a 3-0 lead.
Glens Falls added a run in the second as Matt Hamel (Siena) leadoff the inning with a solo homerun.
The Dragons would have a big inning of their own in the third. Zack Fritz (LIU Post) hit an RBI-double, scoring both Phoenix Hernandez (Southern New Hampshire) and Hamel. Nick Kondo (UAlbany) hit an RBI-double, scoring Fritz to give the Dragons a 4-3 lead.
The Stallions bats stayed cold until the seventh inning. Kelder hit an RBI single to tie the game at four.
The Stallions wouldn't look back. They came marching back in the eighth to open up the game. Dillon Lifrieri (Arkansas) walked with the bases loaded, scoring pinch runner Justin Tuey (Le Moyne) to take the 5-4 lead.
James Gargano (Butler) added a two-run single to score Danny Martin (Stetson) and Coakley. Comer added an RBI-single later in the inning to score Lifrieri and giving Saugerties an 8-4 lead, which they would hold onto to win and improve to 10-9 on the season and are now winners of five in a row.
Stallion's pitcher Trey Hinkle (Bloomsberg) picked up his firt win in his first appearance while Heriberto Casasola (Reinhardt) took the loss. Both teams play their next game tomorrow, June 27. The Stallions are at home against the Elmira Pioneers while the Dragons are at home against the Newark Pilots.
