Stallions Beat Oneonta 8-3 at Home

SAUGERTIES, N.Y. - The Saugerties Stallions (13-5) broke the game open late, scoring 3 runs in the 6th and 2 in the 7th to cruise to an 8-3 win over the Oneonta Outlaws (4-11) at Cantine Field on Thursday night.

The Outlaws struck first, plating a run in the first inning on an RBI single by Carson Swank (Yale). The hit scored Paul Tammaro (SUNY Oswego), who led off the game with a double.

However, the Stallions answered quickly. Nick Iverson (UC Davis) singled, stole second, and advanced to third on a wild pitch before scoring on a single by Jack Renwick (Wofford).

Saugerties took the lead in the 2nd inning, when Richie Cimpric (Franklin Pierce) hit a sac fly to right field, scoring Jarrett Brown (Georgia Southern).

The scoring continued in the third, as a bases-loaded walk to Andrew Wilhite (Minnesota) plated Iverson, extending the Stallions' lead to 3-1.

Oneonta responded in the 4th, scoring a pair of runs to tie the game. An RBI double from Swank scored Tammaro, and a single from Ryan Weiss (SUNY Oswego) brought home Swank to make it a 3-3 game.

The Stallions took the lead for good in the bottom of the 6th. Wilhite tripled into the right-field corner to start the inning, and scored on a wild pitch. After a single from Josh Stevenson (LSU), a 2-run homer from Colin Mackle (Marist) gave the Stallions a 6-3 lead.

The scoring continued for Saugerties in the 7th inning, after a 2-out double from Wilhite scored Caden Kendle (UC Irvine) to give the Stallions a 7-3 lead. They scored another run when Wilhite stole third, advancing home on an errant throw from catcher Yuzuki Okamura (Herkimer).

Zach Byron (Wofford) started for the Stallions, going 4 innings, with 3 earned runs, no walks, and 4 strikeouts. Anthony Van Fossen (SUNY Oswego) srarted for Oneonta, throwing 4 innings of 3-run ball with 6 walks and 4 strikeouts.

Jake Sandridge took the loss for the Outlaws, allowing 3 runs in 2 innings. Jack Walker picked up the win in relief for Saugerties, tossing a pair of scoreless innings.

The Stallions improve to 13-5, and will face the Amsterdam Mohawks at Shuttleworth Park on Friday. Oneonta falls to 4-11, and will play the Glens Falls Dragons on Friday night.
