Staios & Morrison Cross 100 Career Points in Bulldogs 6-3 Victory

November 25, 2021 - Ontario Hockey League (OHL) - Hamilton Bulldogs News Release

HAMILTON, ONTARIO. Looking to run their record against their rivals to 4-0 on the season the Hamilton Bulldogs made their way down the QEW to visit the Niagara IceDogs on Thursday night. The Bulldogs were also able to catch up with former teammate Liam Van Loon who was traded to the IceDogs last week.

The first period started off fast and physical. The Bulldogs opened the scoring at 2:30 with Ryan Humphrey's 5th of the season on the power-play from Lawson Sherk and Jorian Donovan. The IceDogs didn't hesitate to tie it up at 6:30 from Danil Gushchin making it 1-1. The Bulldogs power-play was nothing to mess with this period as Jan Mysak scored a well-deserved goal at 11:25 from the cycle work of George Diaco and Logan Morison. Morison's assist led him to his 100th career point but just seconds later Pano Fimis tied up the period 2-2 at 11:36. The teams would head to the locker rooms stalemated 2-2 through 20 minutes.

The second period both teams were fired up and looking to break the tie. Lawson Sherk scored off the wicked shot of Chandler Romeo to gain his second point of the game at 7:05 with Patrick Thomas garnering his 1st OHL assist. One minute later Nathan Staios ripped a shot top shelf to not only secure the lead but to get his 100th career point with help from Diaco and Mysak. At 15:39, Mark Duarte recorded his 6th of the year with a deflection on Donovan's rocket shot from the pass of Gavin White gave the Bulldogs a 5-2 lead.

The third period saw Niagara battle hard to cut into the Bulldogs lead, breaking through with just over 6 minutes on a Ryan Struthers deflection. The Bulldogs would seal lead the game on Mysak's empty net goal at 17:18 from the steal of Duarte. The win gives the Bulldogs a 3-game winning streak and keeps Matteo Drobac undefeated with his 33 saves running his record to 4-0-0-0 on the year.

The Hamilton Bulldogs return home to the FirstOntario Centre Saturday afternoon against the Kingston Frontenacs at 4:00pm.
