St. Paul Saints News Release
St. Paul, MN, April 16, 2010 - XCO SportsLink announced that the St. Paul Saints BYOF application for the iPhone T and iPod TouchT is now available at the Apple App Store. The Saints BYOF app offers an array of premium content including streaming audio and video, promotions, and an interactive stadium map with GPS. XCO SportsLink developed the application which allows the Saints to create, manage, and leverage new and existing content.
Known for innovative promotions and family-friendly entertainment, the St. Paul Saints introduce their new Be Your Own Fan app on and off the field with the team that brought to baseball a live pig mascot, an 80-year-old massaging nun, Darryl Strawberry in the outfield and Bill Murray in the front office. The Saints become one of the first minor league baseball teams to offer their own app.
"We are excited to begin the process of marketing and utilizing the Saints BYOF app to its fullest capacity," said Tyler Tumminia, Vice President of Marketing and Operations for the Goldklang Group. "The customized app is innovative and we are excited that Saints fans will be able to stay connected to the team wherever they are throughout the year."
Fans can purchase the app for $1.99, but will receive a minimum $3.00 "value plus" rebate by bringing their phones to Midway Stadium and showing they purchased the app. The initial "value plus" rebate offer, beginning May 6, is a voucher for a hot dog and soda, which retails at $3.50. The offer will change throughout the season and as an app owner, you will be able to collect each time the offer is updated.
The app delivers a broad variety of the latest Saints news on and off the field, special offers from the Saints as well as contests for fans inside and outside the ballpark that allow you to Be Your Own Fan. The valuable and well-designed app also affords fans unrivaled access to roster moves, team statistics and the ability to purchase tickets and merchandise. Users can also connect with the Saints through social media platforms Facebook, Twitter, YouTube and more.
"The Goldklang Group continues to be the leader in innovation in minor league baseball," said Alan Hayman, President of XCO SportsLink. "The Saints BYOF app is fresh and entertaining and delivers to their fans the most extensive experience on mobile phones."
The origin of BYOF comes from the varied and unique experiences afforded at the park, and the individual fan's ability to choose the one that fits their desire. Whether they attend purely for the entertainment factor, the ballgame, or the camaraderie with friends and family, this allows for a customized approach, which embodies the essence of BYOF.
The application for the iPhone T and iPod TouchT will be followed by applications for BlackBerry T and other smartphone platforms in the future.
