St. Louis' Jones and partner defeated by No. 2 team, qualifier Hardenberg advances to semifinals

As the play advances to the singles semifinals and doubles finals, St. Louis' own faces defeat, while a singles qualifier gets one step closer to the finals.
No. 2 doubles team Tomoko Dokei and Mami Inoue defeated Whitney Jones, the only player in the main draw from St. Louis, and her doubles partner Larikah Russell Friday evening. Dokei and Inoue will face the No. 3 team Anna Orlik and Anda Perianu in Saturday's final match.
Lindsey Hardenberg, a qualifier from Virginia, prevailed for a second time against a top-seeded player. Hardenberg defeated tournament-ranked No.8 Petra Padalikova in straight sets Friday morning, 6-3, 6-2. In Saturday's semifinals, Hardenberg will face off against Noel Scott, who defeated No. 4 Tomoko Dokei.
Tournament No. 2, Ashley Weinhold will advance to the semifinals, after defeating Chloe Jones, a qualifier, in straight sets 6-0, 6-2. Weinhold will meet No. 3 Anda Periana in Saturday's semifinals.
The Dwight Davis Merrill Lynch Championships will continue Saturday at Dwight Davis Memorial Tennis Center in Forest Park with singles semifinals and the doubles final. Gates will open at 9 a.m. with play beginning at 10:30 a.m. The sold-out GoGirlGo! Tennis Day will be hosted at Dwight Davis Tennis Center prior to Saturday's matches. More than 250 local girls will participate in a free clinic taught by the pros from the USTA Women's Pro Circuit. All participants will receive a free t-shirt and tennis racquet. The event is sponsored by the St. Louis Sports Commission and the St. Louis Aces.
Day passes are $10 for adults and $5 for children under 13. Tickets may be purchased at the gate. Proceeds from ticket sales will go to 501 (3)(c)Dwight Davis Memorial Tennis Center.
