Independence, Missouri - The St. Louis Ambush dropped a 7-3 game to the Kansas City Comets Saturday evening at the Cable Dahmer Arena in Independence. The loss dropped the Ambush to 8-12-2 on the season, while the Comets improved to 13-6-1.

The Ambush got on the board first when Duduca Carvalho pounded a loose ball into the net at 5:04 of the first quarter. Both teams would score in the final three minutes of the period. Mirko Sandivari scored for the Comets on a restart at 12:46, then Triston Austin took a shot that drew Comets goakeeper Nicolau Neto out of the net and the rebound of Austin's shot made its way to Duduca, who nailed his second of the match at 13:14 to give St. Louis a 2-1 lead that would hold until the end of the opening stanza.

The second quarter remained scoreless until the ninth minute when Kansas City's Lesia Thetsane put a high shot out of reach of Ambush goalkeeper Pollo Cortes to make it 2-2, and the game remained knotted at halftime.

The third quarter would see a lone goal. Neither team scored until late in the period, when Kansas City's Luca Sousa scored from outside the arc in the thirteenth minute to give the Comets their first lead of the contest (3-2).

Less than two minutes into the final frame, the Ambush drew even when Marcel Berry scored off a pass from Lucas Almeida. Kansas City regained the lead (4-3) when Leo Gibson scored from the corner in the fourth minute. The Comets went up by two when Ray Lee went on a breakaway and scored in the sixth minute. With the sixth attacker in play for St. Louis, Rian Marques scored an empty netter for the Comets with three minutes remaining to stretch their lead to 6-3. Marques struck again with less than a minute on the clock for a 7-3 final score.

The Ambush and Comets will close out the regular season with two games next weekend. On Saturday, April 2, the Ambush host the Comets at 7:05 p.m. CDT at Axius Field at The Family Arena. The two teams then do battle again less than 24 hours later when they meet on Sunday, April 3 at 4:00 p.m. CDT at Cable Dahmer.
