
St. Cloud Rox Break Streak to Defeat Alexandria 7-5

St. Cloud, Minn. - The St. Cloud Rox broke their streak by pulling out a 7-5 victory over the Alexandria Blue Anchors Wednesday night at Joe Faber Field.
The stadium was rockin' all game long as Deuces Wild! Dueling Pianos was on site keeping the crowd entertained with some great music.
Alexandria was first to score taking a 1-0 lead in the top of the second inning off a double by Andrew Mulato.
St. Cloud would get the bats going in the bottom of the third to steal the lead making it a 4-1 game. It was Daniel Comstock (Fr., Menlo College) leading off with a single as Dustin Breshears (So., St. John's University) followed with a double. Next up was Devin Pearson (Fr., University of California) hitting another double for the Rox to take a 2-1 lead in the inning. A single by Tim Colwell (Jr., North Dakota State Univ.) and an error by the Blue Anchors' center fielder would take the Rox to a 3-1 lead and placing Colwell on third base. The Rox' final run in the inning would come off a single by Conor Keniry (Jr., Wake Forest University).
Both teams would play tough defense in the fourth and fifth innings for no runs by either team.
The Blue Anchors would bring the game within one run in the top of the sixth inning for a score of 4-3 but the Rox would score two runs themselves in the bottom of the sixth.
Garrett Fischer (R-Jr., St. Cloud State) batted a single in the sixth to get St. Cloud going and then advanced to third off a single by Comstock. Breshears would then reach on an error by the short stop allowing Fischer to score for a 5-3 lead. The Rox' Devin Pearson grounded out to first to score Comstock taking a 6-3 lead over Alexandria.
Both teams would score a run in the eighth inning to go into the top of the ninth with the Rox leading 7-4.
Alexandria would score one more run in the top of the ninth but could not get anymore hits as Dalton Sawyer (Fr., University of Minnesota) came into pitch for the Rox making the third out to end the game by a final of 7-5.
It was Kyle Davis (R-Jr., Colorado Mesa University) earning the start in tonight's game against Alexandria pitching 6.0 innings of work to earn the win moving his record to 2-0 on the season. Reese Gregory (Fr., St. Cloud State) would relieve Davis to pitch 2.0 innings, Adam Maxon (Jr., Jacksonville University) for 0.2 innings, and Sawyer earning the save in 0.1 innings of work.
The St. Cloud Times Rox player of the game went to Daniel Comstock tonight after going 3-for-3 with three runs batting at the eight spot and designated hitter for St. Cloud.
The Rox (4-4, 4-4 North) will be back in action on Thursday, June 6 as they travel to Alexandria for a 7:05 p.m. game time with the Blue Anchors before coming back home for a Friday-Saturday series against the Waterloo Bucks.
Friday night at Joe Faber Field there will be another awesome post-game fireworks show presented by Charter Communications. Saturday's game at the ballpark will be a Baseball Cap Giveaway Night presented by HealthPartners Central Minnesota Clinics with the first 400 fans receiving a cap.
