
Squirrels Get Series Split with 7-4 Win over Senators

HARRISBURG, Pa. - The Richmond Flying Squirrels overcame an early deficit to beat the Harrisburg Senators, 7-4, on Sunday afternoon at FNB Field.
The Flying Squirrels (7-8) won the last two games of the week against the Senators (6-8) to get a series split.
With the score tied, 3-3, entering the fourth inning, Carter Howell gave Richmond the lead with a two-run double.
Later in the inning, Andy Thomas brought Howell in to score with a double and Adrián Sugastey added an RBI single to open a 7-3 Flying Squirrels lead against Senators starter Kyle Luckham (Loss, 0-1).
Harrisburg struck first in the first inning when Robert Hassell III scored on an error. In the top of the second, Richmond tied the game, 1-1, with a sacrifice fly by Sugastey.
The Senators answered with two runs in the bottom of the second to take a 3-1 lead. Andrew Pinckney and Hassell each had RBI singles in the inning.
The Flying Squirrels tied the game, 3-3, in the top of the third inning. Grant McCray brought in a run with a double to center and Victor Bericoto evened the score with an RBI groundout.
José Cruz (Win, 1-0) took over in the fifth inning and worked around three walks to post two scoreless innings. The Senators brought in an unearned run against Eric Silva in his 1.1 innings.
Nick Garcia (Save, 1) struck out two batters in a 1-2-3 bottom of the ninth.
The Flying Squirrels begin a six-game series against the Bowie Baysox on Tuesday at The Diamond. Right-hander Carson Ragsdale (0-0, 2.77) will start for Richmond. First pitch is scheduled for 11:05 a.m.
