
Sports To Open Season Thursday

Shreveport-Bossier Captains News Release
The Shreveport Sports will open the 2008 American Association season Thursday (May 8th) at El Paso. This will be the start of a four-game series against the Diablos, who made it to the playoffs last season.
Springhill native Thad Markray, will be the opening night pitcher for the Sports at El Paso. Markray pitched for the Sports in 2004 and has spent the past four seasons in the Kansas City organization. Last season Markray pitched at Triple-A Omaha where he posted an 8-7 record.
Sports manager Terry Bevington is expected to pitch Russell Savickas (Friday), Justin Phillips (Saturday) and Matt Clayman (Sunday) at El Paso.
Game time Thursday will be 8:05 pm (Central) with the game to be broadcast on AM 1130 KWKH.
The Sports will have their home opener Tuesday (May 13th) at Fair Grounds Field against Grand Prairie at 7:05 pm
