
Sports snap five-game losing streak

Shreveport-Bossier Captains News Release
The Shreveport Sports snapped a five game losing streak with an 8-2 win over Coastal Bend Sunday afternoon at Fair Grounds Field.
After taking the lead in five straight games and losing, the Sports got the lead early Sunday 1-0 in the first inning and went on to chalk up only their second win of the season. The Sports added a run in the third only to have the Aviators cut the lead in half with a run in the fourth inning. However, Shreveport put the game away with a four-run fifth inning, highlighted by a two-run single by Coby Smith.
Shreveport starter Jason Benson (1-0) pitched six inning to pick up the victory while Neomar Flores worked the final three innings to record his first save. Coastal Bend starter Brad Koenig (0-1) suffered the loss.
The Sports will now embark on a six-game road trip starting Tuesday at Edinburg and will return to Fair Grounds Field on Tuesday, May 24th against Edinburg.
