Shreveport-Bossier Captains News Release
A sacrifice fly in the top of the 10th inning by Mathew Kent gave El Paso a 5-4 win over the Shreveport Sports Monday in the first game of a four-game series between the top two teams in the South Division of the American Association.
The Sports had tied the game in the bottom of the ninth inning when with two outs, Tommy Bryant had an infield single and Melvin Falu was safe on an error. Bryan Cooksey then singled to score both Bryant and Falu with the tying run and send the game to extra innings. It was the second extra inning game for the Sports in the last four days and the Sports have lost both. It was also the fourth straight loss for Shreveport, their longest losing streak of the year. Shreveport and El Paso will meet in the second game of the series Tuesday at Fair Grounds Field. Game time will be 7:05 pm with the broadcast on AM 1130, KWKH.
