Sporting Kansas City News Release
Sporting Kansas City announced today the launch of the club's new Spanish-language website, which is now available for fans to visit at es.sportingkc.com.
"We're excited to offer another important connection point to our fans - both here in Kansas City and around the world," said Sporting Kansas City Vice President of Marketing Aaron Borns. "We appreciate the partnership with the League to be one of the first clubs in Major League Soccer to bring this to life."
The site design features written and graphic content in Spanish, including player profiles, team stats, schedule details and ticket information, as well as weekly content for fans with news stories, club announcements, match previews and match recaps. Sporting Kansas City is one of three clubs in Major League Soccer, along with Atlanta United FC and Inter Miami CF, to have developed a fully-integrated website in Spanish.
The website, created in collaboration with MLS Digital, complements Spanish-language content available to Sporting KC and Major League Soccer supporters on social media from @SoySporting with Twitter and Facebook channels first launched in 2011 following the club's rebrand and ahead of the opening of Children's Mercy Park.
In addition, Children's Mercy Park has added Spanish-language public address announcements on home matchdays and all Sporting Kansas City matches are broadcast in Spanish globally on Apple TV for viewers in more than 100 countries and regions with the MLS Season Pass subscription service. Locally, La Grande 1340 AM has aired Sporting KC matches dating back to 2007 and listeners can hear the commentary team of Diego Gutierrez, Emmily Infante and Josue Orantes via free streams available in the Sporting KC App.
Sporting Kansas City's roster features numerous Spanish-speaking players - including the reigning MLS Player of the Month in Mexican striker Alan Pulido - and Sporting will host 12-time LIGA MX champions Chivas Guadalajara on July 31 at Children's Mercy Park in Leagues Cup 2023. The team's state-of-the art stadium and training facilities are located in Kansas City, Kansas, which is home to a growing Hispanic community that now represents 31.2% of the city's population according to U.S. Census data. Kansas City is also one of 16 host cities for the FIFA World Cup 2026, which will be the first World Cup with 48 participating nations competing in a record 104 matches.
Sporting Kansas City will continue the team's regular season campaign at 8:30 p.m. CT this Saturday against Austin FC at Q2 Stadium. The Western Conference clash will be broadcast free on Apple TV in addition to local radio coverage on Sports Radio 810 WHB and La Grande 1340 AM. All of the action will also be shown by pub partners in the Sporting Pub Network, including an enhanced watch party at The Brooksider Sportsbar and Grill (6330 Brookside Plaza, Kansas City, MO).
