Saginaw, Mich. - The Saginaw Spirit (21-39-1-0) wraps up back-to-back games against the Soo Greyhounds (33-21-6-1) Friday night, riding a season-long, three-game winning streak following a 2-1 victory over the Hounds on Tuesday night at The Dow. The puck drops this evening at GFL Memorial Gardens is scheduled for 7:07 p.m.

Head-to-Head

This marks the eighth and final meeting of the season series between the Saginaw Spirit and Soo Greyhounds. With a victory this evening, the Spirit could split the series at four games apiece. To accomplish this, the Spirit will have to do something they haven't done this season, win a game at GFL Memorial Gardens. The Greyhounds have bested the Spirt in each of the three meetings in the Soo, outscoring them in those game, 20-7.

Last Time Out

Saginaw: In a tight-checking, defense-first style game, the Spirit outlasted the Greyhounds Tuesday night 2-1 at The Dow Event Center in Saginaw. After Rory Kerins opened the scoring at 3:27 of the first period, the Spirit cashed in on a power play goal from Mitchell Smith, who scored his eighth point in his last four games. In the second period, Luke McNamara setup Charlie Fink on a two-on-one for his first OHL goal to give Saginaw the lead. The Spirit finished the hockey game a perfect seven-for-seven on the penalty kill, helping them stave off the powerful Hounds offense down the stretch.

Soo: The third best offense in the Ontario Hockey League's Western Conference could only generate one goal on 19 shots Tuesday night, thanks to a supreme defensive effort from the Saginaw Spirit. Calgary Flames prospect Rory Kerins opened the scoring for the Hounds, picking up his 102nd point of the season, the second most in the entire OHL.
