Spirit Filled Super Bowl Weekend

West Springfield, January 29, 2004 – Springfield Spirit President and Owner Stephen Fox is pleased to announce that "Super Bowl Weekend" will now have a little extra "Spirit" to it this year, as the Springfield Spirit are set to take on the visiting Houston Stealth on Saturday (7pm) at Central Connecticut State University and then will take on the Chicago Blaze on Sun (2pm) at Cathedral High School in Springfield, MA.

Stephen Fox stated, "We know that "Super Bowl Sunday" is hard to compete with but with the help of our fantastic sponsors/supporters we have put together some ideas that we hope will drive people out to the games."

On Saturday January 31st The Spirit will be hosting a promotion for ALL the colleges in Connecticut. If you produce a ID from any of the colleges in Connecticut (Alumni, professors, current students or employees) you will receive a $5.00 discount off the General Reserve seats at CCSU for the game this Saturday January 31st. Tickets will be reduced to $10.00 for adults and $7.00 for Juniors under 18.

The "Spirit Filled" Sunday will be in part do to the help from Masslive.com and Hannoush Jewelers. Fans will have the chance to win a diamond tennis bracelet courtesy of Hannoush Jewelers and it is just in time for Valentines Day. Fans will be able to enter this free drawing by just presenting their game ticket to the Hannoush Jewelers fan table at the game. Fans will also have the opportunity to receive discounted tickets when they take out the Masslive.com discount coupon in the Springfield Republican. Along with great promotions this weekend will also bring great basketball action. When the Stealth visit CCSU on Saturday they will be bringing along NWBL standouts Tina Thompson and Tamicha Jackson. Thompson is currently second in the NWBL averaging 21.7 points per game while Jackson is currently fifth in scoring averaging 19.0 points per game. Not only is Jackson fifth in scoring she is also first in steals with 3.7 per game and third in steals with 5.7 per contest.

Sundays game will also be featuring one of the brightest stars the NWBL has to offer as Tamika Catchings will be making the trip to Springfield and will be bringing along the 17.0 points and 10.0 rebounds per game. Tamika will be accompanied by NWBL leading scorer Jamie Redd who is averaging 27.5 points per game.

Individual game tickets are on sale on at the Springfield Civic Center Box and Central Connecticut State University box offices. Tickets may also be charged over the phone at 413-787-6600, 800-639-8602 (SCC) and at 860-832-1989 (CCSU). Tickets for the 2004 season may also be purchased on line at www.ticketmaster.com tickets costs at CCSU are $20, $15, and $10 for adults and $12 and $10 for juniors under 18. At Cathedral H/S the tickets are $15 and $12 for adults and $10 for Junior under 18.
