December 3, 2007 - American Indoor Football Association (AIFA)
Carolina Speed News Release

The Carolina Speed announced their first signing for the 2008 season at a press conference on Friday, November 30. The Speed signed Phil Alexander a 6'4, 275lbs. DE/LB out of the University of Toledo. After graduating from Toledo, Phil was on the NFL draft board to be selected in the middle or late round. He was recognized for being very strong, quick, and athletic. His nose for the ball always kept him in the position to make a play.

Phil was asked how he feels about playing again and what does he hope to accomplish with the Speed. "I'm very excited and hungry to get back on the field. I want to better myself as a player and teammate and use the Speed to get to the next level where I know I can play." He feels that it is extremely important to have team success in his pursuit to get to the next level. Phil's ultimate goal this season is to win a championship.

Phil had an opportunity to play in the UIF with the Ohio Valley Greyhounds in 2006. He played six games and had thirteen sacks before injuring his knee. Phil's father, Chris Alexander, who played in the NFL with Baltimore and Seattle said, "I am glad my son has the opportunity to get back on the field and display his talent." Head Coach Ervin Bryson and Assistant Coach Ramon Robinson feel that the Speed is heading in the right direction in building a championship team. "A talent like Phil is very rare to come by and we are very fortunate to have him."

Speed season tickets are now available at the Cabarrus Arena Box Office 704-920-3976 or call the Speed office for sponsorship opportunities. Go Speed in the 2008 season.
