
Spartans to hold December 19 press conference

AUGUSTA, Ga. -- Augusta Spartans owner Jimmy Young and Head Coach Bubba Diggs will hold a media opportunity Tuesday, December 19 at 2 p.m. at the Dog House Sports Bar, 4020 Washington Road, Augusta, Ga.
Diggs will announce the signing of several returning Spartans from the 2006 inaugural season, including wide receiver Anthony Young, lineman Jon Cratic and wide receiver Marvin Stone.
"We built the nucleus for a good team last year and I'm excited about the upcoming season,'' Diggs said. "We will be an extremely competitive."
Young will provide an update on the team's jump from the now-defunct American Indoor Football Association to the World Indoor Football League, The Spartans will play the league's inaugural game Sunday, February 11 in Daytona Beach, Fla. WIFL commissioner Gary Tufford is expected to attend.
"I feel very confident about this league, Young said. "The numbers are small [four teams] but the infrastructure for long-term success is building."
