Augusta Colts News Release
AUGUSTA, Ga. - For the second straight day, Augusta Spartans lineman John Cratic missed a pre-season practice and head coach Bubba Diggs wasn't bothered in the least.
"Come on, he's been around for six years, I think he knows the routine by now," Diggs said of Cratic, who stayed on the sidelines recovering from a mild virus.
Cratic is expected practice Thursday, the Spartans' second day of full-contact practice.
Other notes from Tuesday:
Diggs was pleased with the effort of defensive lineman Voncellies Allen. "I've asked people to step up into leadership roles and Voncellies has done that," Diggs said. "It gives me a chance to survey the whole field."
The quarterback battle is shaping up between Jamie Williamson and Brandon Hatcher. "I think we're looking at a competition," Diggs said.
The Spartans practice again Wednesday night.
