
Sparks Announce 2022 Training Camp Roster

LOS ANGELES - The Los Angeles Sparks, led by General Manager/Head Coach Derek Fisher, open training camp on April 17 at UCLA Health Training Center in El Segundo before moving to Jump Beyond Sports in Torrance for the duration of the 2022 WNBA Season.
The Sparks 20-woman training camp roster returns nine players from the 2021 Sparks contingency, led by former MVP and WNBA champion Nneka Ogwumike and two-time WNBA Champion Kristi Toliver. Also returning is 2021 First-Team All-Defensive selection Brittney Sykes, two-time WNBA All-Star Chiney Ogwumike, the 2021 No. 7 overall pick Jasmine Walker, as well as Te'a Cooper, Lauren Cox, Arella Guirantes, and Amanda Zahui B.
The newest additions are highlighted by four-time WNBA All-Star Liz Cambage, 2020 WNBA All-Rookie selection Chennedy Carter, two-time WNBA Champion Jordin Canada, 2021 WNBA Champion Lexie Brown, and Orange County native Katie Lou Samuelson.
In addition, the training camp roster features four rookies: No. 9 overall pick Rae Burrell, No. 16 overall pick Kianna Smith, No. 19 overall pick Olivia Nelson-Ododa, and No. 27 overall pick Amy Atwell.
Today, the Sparks signed Chantel Horvat from UCLA and Lexi Gordon from Duke University to training camp contracts to complete the roster.
Horvat is a 6-foot-2 guard/forward from Australia who just finished her senior season at UCLA. In her 2021-22 season, she averaged 6.1 points and 4.1 rebounds per game while shooting 55.4% from the field.
After stints at UConn and Texas Tech, Gordon finished her collegiate career at Duke University. This past season, she averaged 9.0 points and 3.0 rebounds per game. The 6-foot guard/forward is from Fort Worth, Texas.
