Sox Win in the Ninth

Great Falls, MT - Tonight the Great Falls White Sox defeated the Missoula Osprey 5-4 at Centene Stadium. Ryan Rote (2-1) picked up the win as he worked one inning. The loss went to Cody Evens (0-1) as he worked three and a third innings allowing only one run on three hits.

The Osprey scored first when they scored on an error by left fielder Manny Rodriguez in the first inning. In the fifth Missoula would add another run on a single by Rusty Ryal, scoring Jake Elder, to go up 2-0.

The Sox finally got on the board in the sixth inning. Francisco Hernandez hit a one out homerun to right field. Later in the inning, RBI hits by Manny Rodriguez, Matt Sharp, and Garrett Guest put the Sox in the lead 4-2.

The lead would only last that one inning. In the seventh, Boon Logan entered and allowed two runs. The first was an RBI single by Travis Tully and the second scored on an error by shortstop Rolando Acosta.

In a tie game in the ninth inning, the Sox had the winning run on second with two outs. Matt Tribble singled to right and at the ensuing play at the plate Brandon Johnson and Mike DeCarlo collided at home. The ball popped out of DeCarlo's glove and Johnson scored the winning run. The Sox would beat the Osprey 5-4.

Tomorrow night the Sox will play the second of this two game series with the Missoula Osprey at Centene Stadium. The starters for the game are: Carlos Torres (RHP) for Great Falls and Mark Romanczuk (LHP) for Missoula. Game time is at 7:00pm and can be heard on 560AM-KMON starting at 6:45.
