Great Falls Voyagers News Release

Billings, MT - Tonight the Great Falls White Sox were defeated by the Billings Mustangs 9-4 at Cobb Field. The Sox would also drop the North Division Series 2-0 to the Mustangs, who will now go on to defend their 2003 Pioneer League Championship. Demetrius Banks (0-1) took the loss for the Sox, as he worked only a third of an inning, allowing a two run home run. The win went to Drew Jensen (1-0) in relief for the Mustangs.

The Mustangs scored first for the second straight game. The Mustangs attempted a double steal and catcher Donny Lucy's throw went into center field, allowing Drew Anderson to score from third. In the second inning the Mustangs would go up 2-0 when Drew Anderson doubled home Paul Janish.

The Sox would fight back and take the lead in their half of the fifth inning. The Sox scored four times on only two hits and capitalized on two Billings errors. Scott Martin, Donny Lucy, Josh Hansen, and David Cook all scored in the inning.

However, in the sixth, the Mustangs came roaring back. Starter Jack Egbert allowed the first two to reach base. After a pitching change, Demetrius Banks was able to get a fielders choice groundout before the next batter, Elvin Beltre, homered to deep center field to put Billings up 5-4. More of the same in the seventh as Adam Russell allowed a solo homerun to Paul Janish to start the inning, then three batters later Bradley Key touched up Russell for a two run shot to put the Mustangs us 8-4. Chad Ziemendorf's solo homer off Matt Zaleski capped off the offensive explosion for Billings as they would go on to sweep the best of three series by the score of 9-5.

With the loss the Sox 2004 season comes to an end. The White Sox want to personally thank all of those members of the media that have followed the team on a regular basis. On a personal note, I want to thank all of you as well, for your time and support throughout the season. It has been a pleasure to work with all of you.
