Sox Receive Honor

Amarillo ThunderHeads News Release

AMARILLO, TX - On Tuesday, Amarillo Sox general manager Mark Lee thought he was just attending a meeting to discuss the upcoming season events with America Supports You Texas.

He left with a brass eagle.

America Supports You Texas presented Lee and the Amarillo Sox with the statue as a symbol of ongoing support for active duty soldiers and veterans of the American war effort.

"I'm blown away," Lee said. "I've seen these statues at other businesses, but to receive this beautiful eagle and be able to present it at our office is an honor."

The Amarillo Sox have been partnering with America Supports You Texas for the last seven seasons, dating back to the Amarillo Dillas. The Sox continue to support the organization with free admission for veterans and active-duty servicemen and women. Additionally, the May 27 game will feature a post-game auction of game-worn jerseys presented by Bell Helicopter. All proceeds from the auction will benefit America Supports You Texas.

"This is something I will support as long as I am here," said Lee. "Both my brothers served in Vietnam and I know the importance of taking care of and supporting our soldiers."
