Greeneville Astros News Release

Greeneville, TN - The Bristol White Sox scored all of their runs on one hit as they edged the Greeneville Astros 3-2 on Thursday night at Pioneer Park. With the loss, the Astros finished 7-2 against Bristol this season.

After a scoreless first inning, the Astros scored a run in each of the next two innings. Ariel Ovando hit a RBI-double, his 11th of the season, in the second inning. Then, in the third inning, Carlos Correa connected on a RBI-triple to give the Astros a 2-0 lead.

Two innings later, in the fifth, the Astros walked three runners to load the bases for Bristol. Then, with two outs, Jake Brown hit a base-clearing triple to right field to give the Sox a 3-2 advantage. It was Bristol's only hit of the inning and ended up being all the runs they needed to escape with a victory to avoid a series sweep from the Astros.

Bristol's Jake Cose had six strikeouts and gave up two runs on six hits over 7.0 innings as he earned the win. Michael Gunter and Eric Jaffe held the Astros scoreless over the final two innings while combining to allow two hits and strike out four as Jaffe picked up the save.

The Astros begin a three-game series against the Burlington Royals on Friday at 7:00pm. For more information on the Greeneville Astros, please visit www.greenevilleastros.com or call (423) 638-0411.
