Binghamton Black Bears News Release

Winston-Salem, NC- The Binghamton Black Bears fell on the road in the final game of the southern road to the

Carolina Thunderbirds, 9-5. Binghamton will travel back to Binghamton through Saturday night.

Binghamton did all they can with only 12 available skaters, the odds were already stacked against the Black Bears.

Carolina got an early power play due to a bench minor, but Binghamton killed off the first power play, and tried to

build so momentum. Binghamton generated 14 shots but could not bury a goal. Carolina gained control, getting

three goals in the final half of the period. Thunderbirds led 3-0 after one.

Carolina continued to keep their foot on the gas in the second. The Thunderbirds grabbed the first two goals of the

frame before Austin Thompson could put Binghamton on the board. Carolina had another answer, but Jake Schultz

responded putting Binghamton down by four at the end of the second period. T-Birds led 6-2.

In the best period of the weekend for Binghamton, the Black Bears were able to put three in the back of the net, but

the outcome had already been decided. Thompson added his second of the night. Gavin Yates went on to add a

pair for himself, but Carolina kept pace scoring three more goals. Carolina controlled most of the game despite

Binghamton outshooting them 54-49.
