MARIETTA, GA - The Southern League of Professional Baseball Clubs announces its Pitcher and Player of the Week for May 22 through 28. Lefthander Mike Kickham of the Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp was selected as the Pitcher of the Week while Mississippi Braves centerfielder Ronald Acuî=B1a earned Player of the Week honors.

Over 6.2 innings pitched last week, Jacksonville lefty Mike Kickham benefitted from a career high 12 strikeouts. While his Jumbo Shrimp fell to the visiting Jackson Generals, the Missouri State product pitched well enough for his team to take the victory, scattering just three hits and walking only one. At one point in the night, Kickham struck out six straight Generals, falling just two short of a League record. After allowing three hits over the first three innings, the St. Louis native retired 12 straight batters. Kickham finished the week with an excellent 0.50 WHIP and opponents' batting average of .136.

His second SL weekly award at the age of 19, Mississippi outfielder Ronald Acuî=B1a was a terror at the plate last week. Over six games played, Acuî=B1a paced the league with a .417 batting average, 10 hits, and three doubles, while sharing the lead with 16 total bases. Furthermore, the La Guaira, Venezuela native finished the week with two runs, a stolen base, four extra-base hits, a homerun, three RBI, a .400 on-base percentage and slugging percentage of .667. The biggest night of the week came against South Division rival Pensacola on May 26, when he went 3-for-5 at the plate with a double, stolen base and a run.
