South Carolina's Jakaitis Named CCM ECHL Goaltender of the Week

PRINCETON, N.J. - Jeff Jakaitis of the South Carolina Stingrays is the CCM ECHL Goaltender of the Week for March 9-15. It is the second time this season, and the seventh time in his career that Jakaitis has won the weekly honor, extending his own league record.

Jakaitis went 2-0-0 with two shutouts last week, helping the Stingrays extend their ECHL-record winning streak to 19 games.

The 31-year-old made 19 saves in a 4-0 win at Gwinnett on Friday and turned aside all 21 shots he faced in a 6-0 victory against the Gladiators on Saturday.

A native of Rochester, Minn., Jakaitis has not allowed a goal in 259:32, which is in ECHL record, and he has posted shutouts in three consecutive games for the second time in his career, tying the league record. He leads the league with five shutouts this season, and his 21 career shutouts are second all-time.

Jakaitis has appeared in 196 career ECHL games with South Carolina, Gwinnett, Charlotte and Columbia posting an overall record of 104-60-24 with a 2.40 goals-against average and a save percentage of .921.
