South Atlantic League Announces 2002 Outstanding Achievement Award Winners

John H. Moss, President of the South Atlantic League, announced the 2002 South Atlantic League's Outstanding Achievement Award Winners. These awards include the 2002 Club Merit Award, General Manager of the Year, Sales Executive of the Year, Media Relations Director of the Year, Community Relations Director of the Year, Trainer of the Year, Groundskeeper of the Year, Best Playing Field and Bat Boy of the Year.

The Lakewood BlueClaws are the 2002 recipient of the Club Merit Award after having also been recognized with the award for the 2001 Season. Geoff Brown of the Lakewood BlueClaws was recognized for his outstanding work as the General Manager of the Year. John Clark of the Lakewood BlueClaws received the award for Sales Executive of the Year. Jim Lucas of the Charleston, SC RiverDogs was named the Media Relations Director of the Year. Alissa Clendenen of the Delmarva Shorebirds won the Community Relations Director of the Year. Other individual award winners included Justin Sharpe of the Macon Braves as the Trainer of the Year, Bill Butler of the Lakewood BlueClaws and Josh Ingle of the Delmarva Shorebirds who tied for the Groundskeeper of the Year honor and Luke Blanks of the Macon Braves as the Bat Boy of the Year. Lakewood (FirstEnergy Park) and Delmarva (Arthur W. Perdue Stadium) shared the distinction of having the South Atlantic League's Best Playing Field.

These awards will be presented at the 3rd Annual South Atlantic League Awards Dinner on Friday, October 4th in Salon D of the Greensboro-High Point Marriott scheduled to begin at 7:30 pm.
