Sour Start to Thanksgiving

All the games against the Green Bay Gamblers have been close, but the Waterloo Black Hawks' opponent has slipped by at each meeting, on Wednesday by a 4-2 score at the Resch Center.

Waterloo fell behind 2-0 on a pair of goals by William Kessel. Both chances came from sharp angles. The first was a shot that deflected in at 4:14 of the opening period. Kessel stuffed in his second goal at 5:01 of the second.

Waterloo rallied with two goals in less than a minute. Anthony Greco slid in a backhand wraparound at 9:40. Twenty-seven seconds later, Ryan Papa tied the game with a wraparound of his own.

The decisive Green Bay score came at 2:38 of the third when Aaron Harstad found the net on a power play. Andrew Welinski capped a three-on-one rush at 7:38 to complete the scoring.

The Hawks get right back to action Thursday, hosting Cedar Rapids at 7:05.
