Nashville Sounds News Release

Sounds third baseman Ryan Braun received news of his first big-league call-up from Nashville skipper Frank Kremblas following Thursday evening's win over Memphis.

The 23-year-old, who was ranked as the Milwaukee Brewers' 2nd-best prospect by Baseball America entering the 2007 season, had his contract purchased by the Brew Crew and will join the club on Friday in San Diego.

Braun batted .342 (40-for-117) with 10 home runs, 12 doubles, 22 RBIs, and 28 runs scored in 34 games for Nashville this season. He entered play on Thursday holding the Pacific Coast League lead with a .726 slugging percentage and a 1.152 OPS. His 10 home runs were tied for 2nd-most by a PCL slugger this year.

To make room for Braun on their active roster, the Brewers placed right-handed reliever Elmer Dessens on the 15-day disabled list, retroactive to May 19, with a right shoulder strain. Dessens was 1-1 with a 6.60 ERA in 12 relief appearances for the Brewers this season.
