Indiana Blast News Release
INDIANAPOLIS- The Indiana Blast (1-10-1 4pts) lost a tough one in overtime to the Seattle Sounders (6-1-2 20 pts) 3-2 Sunday night at Kuntz Memorial Soccer Stadium. The Blast had the lead twice, both goals coming from Godfrey Tenoff. All five goals came in the last 20 minutes of the game.
Jeff Dresser nearly scored in the 17th minute off a beautiful give-and-go with Semir Mesanovic, but Dresser's shot went over the crossbar. Jeff became the club's all-time leading scorer with a goal in Friday night's 2-1 loss against Cincinnati.
The game stayed scoreless until the 76th minute when Godfrey Tenoff chipped an unbelievable shot over the Seattle keeper, Rich Cullin that hit the post on the upper left corner of the goal and went in.
After Alex Bengard answered for Seattle in the 86th minute, Tenoff scored again to take a 2-1 lead in the 88th minute off a nice feed from Blast newcomer Gerardo Quiroz. The lead however was short-lived. The speedy Craig Tomlinson scored to tie the score just before regulation.
Kyle Smith scored the golden goal for Seattle in the 95th minute on a nice header. Seattle had been running Smith to the far post on every corner kick and Andrew Gregor finally found him on the last play of the game.
The Blast's next home game will be broadcast live nationwide on Fox Sports World Friday June 20th against the Cincinnati Riverhawks. Kickoff is 7:00pm, gates open at 6:00 at Kuntz Stadium. It's our annual red white and blue salute to America's Heroes event. Wear your patriotic colors and save $1 on admission, plus free admission to those folks who arrive in uniform.
