Sounders Battle Puerto Rico and Miami This Week

After a four point road trip through Virginia Beach and Minnesota, the Seattle Sounders face two of the top teams in the league in the Puerto Rico Islanders and Miami FC. Forward Cam Weaver's three goals on the last road trip has pulled him even with Miami FC's legendary forward and World Cup Champion "Romario" with nine goals in the first half of the season to lead the league in scoring.

Puerto Rico visits Seattle for the third time in the franchise's three-year existence on June 28th at 7pm, Qwest Field. The Islanders (6-4-2, 20pts) are tied for third in the USL First Division and ended a four game unbeaten streak with a 1-0 loss in Vancouver. The Sounders are 1-1-1 against the Islanders, but have never been defeated at home by Puerto Rico (1-0-1).

2006 USL First Division Expansion club, Miami FC makes its first trip to Seattle on July 1st with one of the world's most prolific goal scorers, Brazilian Forward "Romario". With 959 career goals, Romario currently is tied with Sounder rookie Forward Cam Weaver as the league's leading goal scorer with nine goals in 12 matches. The Sounders and Miami FC square off at 7pm at Qwest Field.

Bring your ticket stub from Wednesday's match against Puerto Rico to Saturday's game against Miami FC on July 1st and you'll be able to purchase two GA tickets for just $12 to the match against Miami. The Seattle Sounders face the world's second all-time leading scorer in soccer history, "Romario" when his USL First Division team, Miami FC visits Seattle on July 1st at Qwest Field. With 959 career goals, "Romario" de Souza-Faria is rapidly approaching the magical number of 1,000 goals, an accomplishment only achieved by the legendary Pele. In 1994, Romario helped Brazil become World Cup Champions, winning his country's fourth World Cup title.

Somoza & Jackson Ready To Return To Line Up

Missing key veterans throughout the season with injuries, the Sounders look to have defenders Ben Somoza and Danny Jackson return to the line up against the Puerto Rico Islanders on June 28th. Somoza has missed the last eight matches with an ankle sprain while Jackson missed six with a knee injury. With 14 game played, the Sounders have reached the midway point in the 2006 season, a season battered by injuries. Overall, there have been 10 players who've missed a combined 54 matches with injuries.
