
Sound hold off Frenzy 119-115

Selden, N.Y. - The Strong Island Sound rebounded after two straight loses by defeating the Boston Frenzy at Suffolk Community College 119-115. They did it by beating a completely revamped Boston roster from the last time the two teams met. The Sound improved to 5-9 with the win. Boston remains winless at 0-10.
Michael Campbell came alive in the fourth quarter to lead the Sound to the win. The 6'6" guard from LIU, Brooklyn hit a running lay-up while getting fouled in the last minute of the game. He subsequently hit the free throw to complete the three-point play and seal the victory. "I knew I had to hit the hole off the pick and roll with the center guarding me", said Campbell referring to the drive. Campbell finished with 22 points in 43 minutes on 7-12 shooting, 3-6 from 3-point range, 5-5 from the free-throw line, 9 rebounds, 4 assists and 2 steals.
Newcomer Jerome "Fridge" Holeman came off the bench to score 26 points in 33 minutes. The diminutive point guard went 10-16 shooting, 2-2 from three-point range, 4-7 from the free-throw line, 6 assists, and 2 steals in only his second game with the team. "Being a new edition I'm coming off the bench and I hope to bring some energy" said Holeman. "I'm small and quick".
The Sound were in command during the first half and led by 12 points at halftime. The Frenzy cut the lead and actually were ahead in the middle of the fourth quarter. Sound Head Coach Joe Medina called an important time-out to regroup. "We made some adjustments. We had a few players in foul trouble", said Medina when asked about the difference in the team after the time-out. "We stepped up and did the job. This is 1 step in the right direction. We need to build on it. We stayed positive".
The Frenzy were led by Sly McIntosh with 25 points. The shooting guard played 44 minutes and went 9-15 from the floor, 5-11 from three-point territory, 2-2 from the free-throw line, 11 rebounds, and 2 assists.
