Strong Island Sound News Release
Patchogue, NY: The Strong Island Sound, winners of five of their last seven games prepare for the home stretch of the ABA season with three critical games this weekend. Friday night at 7:00pm the Sound will take on the visiting Maryland Nighthawks at Suffolk Community College. The Nighthawks have had the Sounds number this season winning both games in Maryland by a combined eight points. Strong Island will get its first shot at revenge on their home court Friday. The Nighthawks are led by ABA All-Star Randy "White Chocolate" Gill, ex-NBA and Syracuse University star Lawrence Moten and ABA Slam-Dunk Champion Ray Cunningham. On Saturday night the Sound will take on Roger Brown division leading Harlem Strong Dogs at St. Joseph's College. Harlem stormed to the top of the division standings in January after a slow start and the Sound will look to knock off the #9 ranked team in the ABA Pit Bull Power Rankings. Finally on Sunday February 19th the team will travel up to Buffalo to take on Tim Winn and the Buffalo Rapids. With the Sound sitting squarely at #16 in the Power Rankings, every win is critical to securing a home-game in the playoffs. It seems that all the moves the Sound have been making lately have paid off, whether it was inserting Fabian Pinnock into the starting lineup or the additions of Chris Sandy and Cory Underwood, the Sound are finally making the strides needed to be a contender in the ABA.
Note: OurSports Central no longer actively covers the American Basketball Association (ABA) as a professional league due in part to its inability to publish and play a schedule and the transitory nature of many of its teams.
