Philadelphia Soul News Release

PHILADELPHIA – The Philadelphia Soul have released kicker Derek Schorejs, the team announced today.

The Soul invited six kickers to a private workout at 2 p.m. today to be held at the Philadelphia EaglesÂ’ Nova Care Center. The workout, which is closed to the public, will be open to the media. The kickers and Soul coaches will be available for comment at 3 p.m.

Schorejs, who was signed as a free agent in October of 2004, made 38 of 46 extra points but just 28.6 percent (2 of 7) his field goals. This inconsistency led to the SoulÂ’s search for a new kicker.

The Soul host the Tampa Bay Storm this Sunday, March 20. Kickoff is set for 12 p.m. (ET) and will be broadcast live on NBC Sports (NBC-10 WCAU - Philadelphia). The game can also be heard on PhiladelphiaÂ’s News Talk 990 AM WNTP and via the web at www.philadelphiasoul.com.
