Philadelphia Soul News Release
The undefeated Philadelphia Soul will look for a sixth consecutive victory of the season and a third straight win with Matt D'Orazio as starting quarterback when they host the Utah Blaze at the Wachovia Spectrum on Saturday, April 5 at 7:00 p.m. (et). The game will be broadcast on tape delay on Comcast SportsNet and stream live at www.950espn.com. ESPN 950 will air the game on tape delay, starting at approximately 11:30 PM. The first 10,000 fans will receive an official 2008 Soul Poster.
The Soul won their season opener 77-56 over the Orlando Predators on Saturday, March 1 and their road opener 60-49 against the Chicago Rush on March 9. The Soul then won their next game 63-42 over the New York Dragons on March 16, but lost their star QB Tony Graziani to a knee injury. On March 20, D'Orazio stepped up and helped the Soul conquer the Avengers 71-34 away in Los Angeles and then returned home last Saturday to defeat the Tampa Bay Storm 59-51.
D'Orazio and WR Chris Jackson both hit major career milestones during last week's game. D'Orazio earned his 900th pass completion with a 9 yard pass at the end of the first quarter to WR Darius Watts and Jackson became the fourth wide receiver in AFL history to break 12,000 yards after an 8 yard catch from D'Orazio at the end of the second quarter. Jackson is also close to reaching two more milestones, as he is 8 receptions shy of 900 and 12 touchdowns shy of300.
Philadelphia faces the Blaze for the first time in franchise history.
