AFL I Arena Football League (1987-2008)

AFN To Broadcast AFL Games

April 3, 2008 - Arena Football League (1987-2008) (AFL I) News Release

NEW YORK - The Arena Football League and AFN American Forces Network ® have agreed to a partnership allowing the AFN to broadcast both live and tape-delayed AFL games as telecast on ABC, ESPN and ESPN2.

The AFL's remaining regular-season schedule, Wild Card, Divisional and Conference Championship playoff rounds, as well as ArenaBowl XXII, will now be broadcast to AFN's audience outside the United States in 176 countries, U.S. territories and aboard U.S. Navy ships at sea.

"It's an honor to once again work with the American Forces Network," said AFL Network President MARC LOWITZ. "The troops give so much to us on a daily basis and this is just one of the ways of showing our support and appreciation for everything they do."

The agreement also means an increased audience for the AFL.

"Professional football is among our most-watched programming," said AFN's Executive Director JEFFREY WHITE. "We're grateful for the Arena Football League's generosity in allowing us to offer their games to the Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen and Marines that are guarding freedom's frontiers."

ESPN's international coverage of the Arena Football League currently reaches 38 million households in 161 countries worldwide in regions such as Latin America, the Pacific Rim, the Middle East, Israel and Europe.

In addition, AFL games can also be seen throughout Europe on Eurosport. Eurosport reaches 240 million households throughout 51 countries.
