February 25, 2005 - Arena Football League (1987-2008) (AFL I)
Philadelphia Soul News Release

PHILADELPHIA – The Philadelphia Soul will host the arch-rival Dallas Desperados this Sunday, February 27 at the Wachovia Center. Kickoff is set for 3:00 pm and can be seen live on NBC Sports (NBC-10 WCAU Philadelphia). The game can also be heard on News Talk 990 am WNTP-Philadelphia or via the internet at www.philadelphiasoul.com

The Soul enter Sunday's contest with a 2-2 mark, while Dallas leads the Eastern Division with a record of 3-1. The first 10,000 fans will receive a free neck lanyard.

The rivalry between Philadelphia and Dallas football teams carries over to the Arena Football League. Last year, the Soul and the Desperados split their two-game series, with each team winning at home. A victory would mark the Soul's first division win this season and tie them with the Desperados in he Eastern Division.

In a fan poll on www.philadelphiasoul.com, 68 percent of participants responded that they dislike Dallas football teams more than visiting the dentist, doing their taxes or parking tickets.

Soul President Ron Jaworski commented on the Philadelphia/Dallas rivalry, "‘America's Team' is what the Dallas Cowboys were known as in the 70s and 80s. That phrase irritated everyone who had to play against Dallas – including me. As Philadelphia teams were struggling for recognition – particularly the Eagles – Dallas became the focal point of Philadelphia fans' aggression. Beating Dallas made the season!"
