PHILADELPHIA - The Philadelphia Soul have released LB Durrand Roundtree.

Roundtree signed with the Soul practice squad on June 6, 2008. He was activated on June 12 and started in one game for the Soul, June 14 versus Cleveland at the MAC linebacker position, recording one assisted tackle. He also contributed on the Soul special teams.

In his additional professional experience, Roundtree played for the Albany Conquest of the af2 in 2007. While playing for Albany he tallied 27.5 tackles (21 solo), 9.5 tackles for loss, and forced five fumbles. In 2006, he recorded 8 tackles (6 solo) and one sack for the Louisville Fire of the af2. Roundtree was allocated to NFL Europe by the Indianapolis Colts in 2004. In his time with the Scottish Claymores, Roundtree recorded 6 solo tackles and one sack. After attending the University of Maryland he was signed by the Washington Redskins as an undrafted free agent and was released in July 2003.

The Philadelphia Soul (12-3), YOUR Team...YOUnited, will travel to New York to do battle with the Dragons on Sunday June 22, 2008. Kickoff is set for 3 p.m. and can be heard live on the home of the Soul, 950 ESPN Radio, and streamed live on-line at 950ESPN.com.

The Soul are celebrating their fifth anniversary this season. Following last season, the Soul were recognized with the Commissioner's Award as the Organization of the Year and were an honorable mention for the PRISM Award in the category of fan appreciation. The Soul have drawn a total of 131,817 fans this season, their largest number since their inaugural season of 2004. The Soul sold out four games in the 2008 season and averaged a crowd of 16,477 fans per game.
