PHILADELPHIA - The Philadelphia Soul released defensive lineman George Gause and backup quarterback Mitch Tanney on Monday.
Gause had played two games with the Soul, Week 5 vs. the Tampa Bay Storm and Week 6 against the Utah Blaze. He recorded a tackle in each game. Tanney was brought in as a backup for QB Matt D'Orazio, but did not see any action with the Soul.
The Philadelphia Soul (6-0), YOUR Team...YOUnited, strive to remain undefeated when they travel to California and face off against the San Jose SaberCats (3-3) on Saturday, April 12 at 11:45 p.m. (et). The Soul return home on Monday, April 28 to face the Dallas Desperados at 8 p.m. The first 7,500 fans to the game will receive thundersticks courtesy of One Communications.
The Soul are celebrating their fifth anniversary this season. The team has drawn an AFL-best 514,226 fans combined during the past four years. Following last season, the Soul were recognized with the Commissioner's Award as the Organization of the Year and were an honorable mention for the PRISM Award in the category of fan appreciation.
