Philadelphia Soul News Release

PHILADELPHIA - Dallas Desperados quarterback Clint Dolezel lead his team past the Philadelphia Soul at the Wachovia Spectrum in front of 15,853 fans. He connected with Ironman of the Game Will Pettis nine times for 191 yards with four touchdowns.

During the first half, both teams exchanged scores until there was 5:00 minutes remaining in the second quarter when Tony Graziani had his pass tipped at the line of scrimmage and intercepted by Willis Marshall. Following the pick, the Dallas offense could not capitalize and saw Todd Sievers miss a 19-yard field goal attempt.

The Soul began their next drive from the Philadelphia 17-yard line and began moving the ball down the field until Graziani had another ball batted in the air and intercepted by Will Pettis. Dallas took the turnover and converted a 21-yard field goal to close out the first half with a 31-21 lead.

Philadelphia began the third quarter marching their way down the field and finished with Graziani hitting Larry Brackins on a two-yard slant to cut into the lead at 31-27, but Dolezel followed it up with a pass to Pettis for a score. Dallas held a 38-27 midway through the third quarter.

Before going into the final quarter, the Soul got into the end zone one more time when Graziani found Mike Brown for his first touchdown of the season to bring Philadelphia within four at 38-34.

Dallas and Philadelphia went back and forth as Dolezel and Graziani kept their teams' offenses rolling. Other than Dallas' final drive of the game, neither team could stop each other in the second half.

Dolezel finished the night connecting on 21-of-35 for 320 yards with seven touchdowns and no interceptions while going on to being named the Offensive Player of the Game.

Graziani was 22-of-36 for 268 yards with five touchdowns despite two interceptions. He found Larry Brackins seven times for 116 yards with one score and Charles Pauley six times with three touchdowns for 75 yards.
