Philadelphia Soul News Release
The Philadelphia Soul (9-2) look to score their 10th win of the season on Saturday, May 17 at the Wachovia Center in Philadelphia to take on the Columbus Destroyers (2-8). The game kicks off at 7 p.m. (et) and can be seen on Comcast SportsNet, while also being heard locally on 950 ESPN Philadelphia and streaming on-line at www.950ESPN.com.
Philadelphia, which has never won as many as 10 games in a regular season, is looking to bounce back after coming off its second consecutive loss of the season, having been defeated by the Georgia Force last Monday, 63-62. The loss knocked the Soul out of their seat in first place. Despite the setback, the Soul are in second place in the Eastern Division and only a half game back of the Dallas Desperados.
Saturday marks the second matchup of the season between the Soul and the Destroyers and 10th overall in teams' histories. The first matchup of the season saw quarterbacks Tony Graziani and Matt D'Orazio combine for nine touchdowns and no interceptions in a 76-55 win. After replacing Graziani because of a left knee injury, D'Orazio led the Soul to a 21-point victory with receiver Larry Brackins being the main beneficiary ending the game with nine receptions for 137 yards and three touchdowns.
The Soul are 5-4 all-time against Columbus. The Soul are looking to continue their drive towards a postseason berth for the third consecutive season.
