Grand Rapids Rampage News Release

GRAND RAPIDS - The Grand Rapids Rampage will return home Friday (May 16) for the first time in three weeks when they welcome the Tampa Bay Storm to Van Andel Arena. The Rampage are looking to break a two-game losing streak and even their home record in tomorrow's non-conference tilt. Tampa Bay has visited Grand Rapids in each of the past two seasons, earning victories both times.

Last week, the Rampage took on their former star quarterback Clint Dolezel and the Dallas Desperados, falling just short against the 9-1 National Conference leaders. Despite scoring 54 points against the Arena Football League's stingiest defense, Grand Rapids could not mount a late fourth-quarter comeback, eventually dropping a 65-54 decision.

Rampage star Kenny Higgins (Long Beach, Calif.) posted one of the top games of any receiver in team history, hauling in 13 passes for three touchdowns and 195 yards, the second most in Grand Rapids history. Meanwhile, quarterback James MacPherson (Tucson, Ariz.) completed his second straight game without an interception, throwing for over 300 yards and seven touchdowns in the loss.

Grand Rapids tweaked its roster this past week with the signing of quarterback Tom Arth (Cleveland, Ohio) and activation of defensive lineman DeVonte Peterson (Clinton, N.C.) from its injured reserve list. Arth will serve as the team's backup quarterback after former backup John Fitzgerald (Seminole, Okla.) was released to allow him to pursue his medical degree. Meanwhile, Peterson will replace defensive lineman Leif Murphy (Spring Lake Park, Minn.), who was placed on injured reserve.

Rampage fans unable to make it to Van Andel Arena can hear every snap of Friday's game against the Storm with play-by-play voice Joe Parson at RampageFootball.com beginning at 6:45 p.m. (EDT). Kickoff is slated for 7 p.m. For additional information including updated schedules, rosters, and ticket options, visit RampageFootball.com.
