The Wichita Wild of the Indoor Football League (IFL) got a fast start on defending their Central Division Championship in 2010 by re-signing two starters from the 2009 squad. Signing contracts were record breaking wide receiver Clinton Solomon and former Kansas State stand-out defensive back Byron Garvin.
Solomon finished fourth in the IFL in receiving yards with 1,008 and fourth in the league in receiving TD's with 22 in the 2009 regular season. Both numbers represent franchise single season records. Solomon was named to the All-IFL First Team following the regular season. Solomon added 15 receptions and four TD?s in the Wild's playoff run to the United Conference Championship game.
Solomon spent the entire 2008 season on the practice squad of the Chicago Rush of the Arena Football League. The Ft. Worth, TX native spent the spring and summer of 2007 with the Tennessee Titans before being released as training camp began. Solomon then signed with the Chicago Bears and was let go prior to the season beginning. Solomon signed as an undrafted free agent with the St. Louis Rams in 2006 and was released in the final cut down before the season.
Solomon played at the University of Iowa during the 2002, 2004, and 2005 seasons. He finished his career ranked 4th in Iowa history in touchdown receptions and 7th in career receiving yards. Following his junior season in 2004, Solomon was named to the All-Big 10 Second Team after catching 58 passes for 905 yards and 6 TD's.
Garvin played in all 14 regular season games for the Wild in 2009. He finished third on the team in tackles with 60.5 and recorded two interceptions. Garvin compiled 8.5 more tackles in the playoffs.
Garvin was in mini-camp with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in May of 2008 after going undrafted out of Kansas State.
Garvin played in nine games and recorded 42 tackles and two interceptions in 2007 for the Wildcats. Garvin saw action in 12 games as a junior in 2006. The Miramar, FL native tallied 58 tackles, which ranked fifth on the team. Garvin also scored the game-winning touchdown vs. Illinois State by returning a fumble. As a sophomore, Garvin started seven games and recorded 30 tackles. Garvin saw action in 11 games on special teams as a freshman.
