Richmond Revolution Officially Sign 27 Players

RICHMOND, VA.: SportsQuest and the Richmond Revolution announced today that they have officially signed 27 players to their roster for the 2010 season. A roster of 45 can be carried into training camp, with a cut down to 21 active players by the time the season starts. Previously announced players for the Revolution honored their verbal commitments and signed their player contracts as well. The signings took place at the Richmond Revolution signing party held last Thursday, October 15th at Big Al's Sports Bar in Richmond.

Joining the Revolution are 27 players, all with a connection to Richmond and Virginia. Seven players signed from Virginia State University including LB/RB Kevin Coles, OG Brandon Grier, WR Anthony Hailstock, DB Pierre Lee, LB/DE Yuri Norrell, RB Travis Valentine and the previously committed WR Damon "Redd" Thompson. The team also officially signed three former Richmond Spiders, DB Stephen Howell, DE Sherman "The Tank" Logan and DB Ryan Mace. Rounding out the list of schools that had multiple players sign with the Revolution was Virginia Tech, which produced 4 future players for the Revolution. Joining already committed DE/OG Lawrence "The Law" Lewis are OL/LB Travis Conway, LB/DB Mike Crawford and K/LB/DB Chris Segaar.

The Revolution also officially signed 13 players, three of which were verbally committed and already announced: WB/QB Aaron Alexander from Michigan State, DB/KR Stephen Cason of William and Mary and WR/DB/KR Larry Williams from West Virginia University. The final 10 players that signed are from various high schools and colleges in the area. Leading the pack is former Richmond Bandits and Richmond Speed OG/DE Stephen Haynes from Delaware State, followed by OL Chris Duane of the Virginia Military Institute, DE Chris Field from Shepherd University, DB Timothy Jean-Pierre from Norfolk St., OG Aswad McLane from Paul Quinn College, OG Kynneth Moses from Virginia Union University, WR/KR Marcus Richardson of Bridgewater College, OL Joe Valvoda from Edinburg St., DB Marquis Jones and NT/LB/RB Rodney Sledge.

SCOR Tryouts produce 7 players

At the Revolution tryouts held on October 11th at the Sports Center of Richmond, 56 players ran through combine drills and indoor football related activities. Seven of the hopefuls were signed as a part of the signing party on October 15th including U of R DB Ryan Mace, VSU RB Travis Valentine, VMI OL Chris Duane, VSU LB Yuri Norrell, Norfolk St. DB Timothy Jean-Pierre, Paul Quinn College OL Aswad McLane and DB Marquis Jones.
