Solar Bears Announce Revisions to 2015-16 Schedule
August 24, 2015 - ECHL (ECHL)
Orlando Solar Bears News Release
ORLANDO, Fla. - The Orlando Solar Bears, proud affiliate of the NHL's Toronto Maple Leafs and AHL's Toronto Marlies, announced today revisions to the 2015-16 regular season schedule released earlier this summer. The 2015-16 season is the fourth year for the Solar Bears in the ECHL, and combined with the six years as an IHL franchise marks the 10th season of Solar Bears hockey in Orlando. All 36 regular season home games will be played at the Amway Center in downtown Orlando.
The Solar Bears play their Home Opener on Saturday, Oct. 17 at 7 p.m., marking the second time in the team's four-year ECHL history that they have opened up the season on home ice. Home games played Monday through Saturday will start at 7 p.m. unless otherwise noted and Sunday games will start at 6 p.m. unless otherwise noted. The 2015-16 home schedule features 21 weekend contests, two games during the Thanksgiving break, four games over the winter holiday break and four games during Orange County and Seminole County Schools' Spring Break.
The ECHL will welcome three new teams next season, as Adirondack (N.Y.), Manchester (N.H.), and Norfolk (Va.) join the league, and the Solar Bears will host each of these new opponents three times during the upcoming season.
With the addition of those teams, the ECHL has rearranged the divisions for the 2015-16 season. Orlando will now be in the South Division along with the Florida Everblades, Greenville Road Warriors, Gwinnett Gladiators and South Carolina Stingrays. To see the new divisions, click here. Orlando will face Florida at home eight times, and Greenville, Gwinnett and South Carolina at home four times each, for a total of 20 home games against South Division rivals.
The Solar Bears 2015-16 regular season home schedule features three games in October, six games in November, four games in December, five games in January, 11 games in February, five games in March and two games in April. The revised schedule is as follows. New dates and times are listed in bold.
