January 28, 2011 - Professional Arena Soccer League (PASL)
San Diego Sockers News Release

The San Diego Sockers will honor the UCSD women's soccer team during a special halftime ceremony at tomorrow's PASL-Pro league game between the Sockers and Revolucion Tijuana. The game is set for a 6:15 kickoff at the Del Mar Arena. UCSD women's soccer head coach Brian McManus and most of the players from the team will appear on field at halftime along with their NCAA Western Regional championship trophy.

"We are delighted to welcome in one of the great teams in local college soccer this season to the Del Mar Arena," said Sockers general manager John Kentera, "these young ladies exemplify what's good in the game of soccer, sportsmanship and competing at the highest level. For them to accomplish so much this year and go so far, it is only fitting we pay them tribute with a special ceremony."

After stumbling to a 3-2 start, the Tritons reeled off 19 consecutive unbeaten results, including 16 wins. A #3 seed in the Western Regional, UCSD traveled to Hawaii and defeated San Francisco State and BYU-Hawaii to reach the Sweet 16. Traveling again into hostile territory the following weekend, the Tritons upset Seattle Pacific and the regional host St. Edwards, booking a trip to the Division II Final Four in Louisville, Kentucky. There, UCSD knocked off #1 ranked and previously undefeated St. Rose 1-0 to reach the national final, where they fell to the defending champions from Grand Valley State 4-0.

After the season, McManus was named Division II Coach of the Year, while senior defender Lisa Bradley was named a first-team All-American, and junior goalkeeper Kristin Armstrong earned second-team honors. The Tritons finished the year with a record of 19-3-3.
