Sockers Take On Philadelphia at Home
February 12, 2003 - Major Indoor Soccer League 2 (MISL 2)
San Diego Sockers News Release
After popular demand, the San Diego Sockers are bringing back a staple in the Sockers tradition with the reappearance of the Sockers sign, Thursday when the Sockers take on the Philadelphia KiXX at 7 p.m. at the San Diego Sports Arena. In addition to the sign, more than 20 former Sockers legends, including Juli Veee, Vidal Fernandez and Waad Hirmez, will play in an 80s vs. 90s battle of the greats at halftime.
Thursday is also College Night with a post-game concert by the B-Side Players. College students can buy half-priced tickets with a valid ID. Limit two tickets per ID.
Philadelphia comes in ranked first in the Eastern Conference, holding a 20-5 overall record (2nd in the MISL) and remain perfect at home, 14-0, this season. The KiXX and top spot Milwaukee Wave are the only teams in the League with a record above .500. Philadelphia holds an eight and one-half game lead over second place Cleveland and a nine and one-half game lead over both the Harrisburg Heat and the Baltimore Blast.
The San Diego Sockers are currently in talks with the San Diego Hall of Champions to retire the sign.
