San Diego Sockers News Release

The San Diego Sockers will enter the 2011-2012 PASL-Pro season with a new look and a new licensed apparel provider and merchandiser. The team today revealed its new logo, a shield to be worn on the chest of all Sockers players in the coming season as part of their new Nike uniforms.

"This is a new chapter in the Sockers' history and an opportunity to partner with the world's best known and most successful sports apparel company," said Sockers general manager John Kentera, "We are thrilled to be wearing Nike for the next three years, and even more thrilled that our fans will be able to buy Sockers merchandise through SoccerFanatic."

The Sockers' new logo, designed by the team over the course of the offseason, reflects both the tradition of the Sockers' championship success and history, as well as its long standing tie to the city of San Diego. The crest is split diagonally by the word "SOCKERS", with the San Diego skyline silhouetted at night on the left. On the right are twelve stars, representing the twelve major indoor championships the Sockers have won in their history. At the bottom of the crest is a "'78", signifying 1978, the year the Sockers came into existence as a franchise.

The new logo will be featured on the Sockers uniforms and all of their Nike licensed apparel. In addition, the Sockers are partnering with SoccerFanatic to make purchasing official Sockers gear even easier than before. Sockers merchandise will be available at all San Diego SoccerFanatic stores and through an online store at the newly redesigned www.sdsockers.com.
