Sockers Fall to KiXX, 10-5

The San Diego Sockers, without leading point scorer Chile Farias, lost to the Philadelphia KiXX today at First Union Spectrum, 10-5. Farias was required to sit out after receiving an ejection in the Nov. 16 game against the Milwaukee Wave.

Philadelphia got things started when Kevin Sloan scored off an assist by Joel Shanker at 3:42 in the first period. Shanker scored a goal of his own at 8:19 in the first off a Shawn Boney assist. The final goal of the half was by player/coach Don D'Ambra at 12:19 in the second period. The Sockers left the field at halftime, trailing 6-0.

Defender Matt Johnson fired up the Sockers' offense with a goal at 1:07 in the third, assist credited to Aaron Susi. D'Ambra answered back with an unassisted goal in the third, but the Sockers weren't out of it yet. Jimmy Wang kept things going with an unassisted three pointer, bringing the Sockers within three. Sloan scored his second goal of the night and the final goal of the game with an assist by goalkeeper Peter Pappas at 12:40 in the fourth.

Pappas earned the win for the KiXX with eight saves on 15 shots faced. Nick Vorberg took the loss facing 19 shots, but led the game with 10 saves. Defensively, Kevin Sakuda, Nate Hetherington, Shawn Beyer and Robbie Aristodemo each grabbed a block.

The next stop for the Sockers is a 4:35(PST) kick-off against the Baltimore Blast, on Saturday, at the Baltimore Arena. Chile Farias is expected to rejoin the team for Saturday¹s contest.
